Colour
Common colours of diamonds are white, champagne, pink and yellow. Color grades are determined by comparing each diamond to a master set.
Colours in diamond originate from lattice defects and impurities, while pure or nearly pure diamonds are transparent and colourless.
The Gemological Institute of America (GIA) classifies low saturation yellow and brown diamonds as diamonds in the normal colour range, and applies a grading scale from "D" (colourless) to "Z" (light yellow). One third of the diamond's value is determined by colours.
Clarity
Clarity is to help with identifying the quality of the diamonds. The clarity scale grades the diamond based on the colour, size, location of impurity and quantity of clarity visible under a magnifying glass. The clarity starts from flawless which is the best to slightly included. Clarity is one-third important in diamond prices.
Cut
The cut of the diamond to make a different shape. There are many shapes such as: round, oval, cushion, emerald, heart and princess.
The cut is important to a diamond to enhance its beauty. The skillful cut and polishing will bring the fineness of diamond.
A brilliant-cut is a diamond in a particular form with numerous facets so as to have exceptional brilliance. The shape resembles that of a cone and provides maximized light return through the top of the diamond. The cut is one of most important factors in the diamond prices.
Carat
Carat weight is a critical factor of price. For diamonds under one carat, each carat is divided into 100 points and 1/2 carat will be 50 points. 1 gram is equal to 5 carats.
